Bruce Mabbott was born in Helensburgh, Scotland. He received his undergraduate degree in engineering from the University of Edinburgh and studied for a year abroad at the University of Pennsylvania. He liked it so much over here in the "colonies" that he moved to Boston in 1996. Bruce now lives in Salem, MA, after an auspicious move to Salem ON HALLOWEEN in 2008.
The Mongol Rally will not be Bruce's first adventure. He recently returned from a self supported cycling tour across the southern tier of the United States from California to Florida, which he completed in only 7 weeks. He was an English teacher in Oswiecim, Poland for 6 months in 2005 and traveled extensively around Central and Eastern Europe in his little Polski Fiat Cinquecento, including a 3 week adventure in the Balkans.
Bruce is a Project Manager for LUMUS Construction of Wilmington, building Wind Turbines all around New England.
