Summer in Mongolia
So I have been doing my research on the monthly weather forecasts for many of the countries that we will be visiting this and next month. Manchester and London are going to be in the 60s/70s next week which will be beautiful. Most of western Europe will be in the 70s/80s for a high and 40s/50s for lows which will be totally tolerable. Mongolia is even very nice since its summer season high is in July and starts cooling down in August 40s-60s. However... the southern Stans are going to be HOT! H-O-T!!! Average highs for Kazakh and Tajik are in the 100's in July and August. We are really going to have to think about how to pack...
Yes! You heard it here!!! We have our passports back!!! AND they have many pretty Visas in them!!! OOooOOhhh pretty colors!!! We can legally enter Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan!!! AWESOME!!! Step 987 complete! (Just kidding... kinda...)
On Saturday 23 July, Goodwood Motor Circuit, West Sussex UK will be temporarily declared The Republic of Adventurism and stage a spectacular celebration of Slow with a heavy dash of the ridiculous and a measure of downright splendidness. Like nothing you've seen before, the festival will be a gargantuan day of adventurism!
Open to one and all with FREE entry, site-wide entertainments will amuse and bemuse fledgling young Ralliers and supporters alike as they amass from all over the globe for the beginning of the mighty Mongol Rally.

Seriously! T - 10 days and counting. Bruce and Andrea will be leaving for the UK in less than 10 days, on July 15th, 2011!!! All we have left to do is pack...oh yeah and get our passports back from the Visa people... not like passports are important or anything... all the pieces are coming together!
As always... Viva Mongolia!
Bruce and Andrea had a 6:45 am meeting at the Salem Police Department on Wednesday with excellent results!

What a wonderful Witch City we live in! We want to thank the Salem Police Department for generously donating to Salem to Mongolia. We initially asked for Salem Police shoulder patches to use as good will gifts at border crossings. They not only gave us many patches but also a Salem Police decal for the bus and a very generous donation to our ride. Thank you specifically to Officers Nancy O'Donnell and Peter Baglioni who were so kind to us so early in the morning when we met.
The generosity of people never ceases to amaze me.
As always, Viva Mongolia!!!
